One of the problems we saw in schools immediately was that students, teachers and school administration did not have access to the school's utility bills. Giving the right people, the right information in the right format is essential in making data informed decisions, so we set out to change that.
We now make this data directly available to students for all the schools that we work with. You can use the selection boxes below to select the school that you wish to view and then configure the graph to display what you need.
If your school is not listed here, and you would like to see if added, please get in touch with us at contact@thegaiaproject.ca
*: The amount of energy consumed in a building depends on many factors; however, for a school in New Brunswick, it depends primarily on the outdoor temperature and whether or not the building is in use. Comparing energy use in February one year to February the next year is not necessarily a useful comparison due to the fact that the outdoor temperature may have been significantly different and have affected the amount of heating required. In order to allow a fair comparison, we can perform some statistical analysis on data. The 'Corrected' data shows the predicted energy use for the school based on an average climate and occupancy profile - this usually results in a 95% accuracy of the prediction. The predicted energy use is based on the performance of the building over the previous 12 months.
